"Life is like stepping into a boat that is about to sail to sea and sink"
-Shunryu Suzuki Roshi
This is so ridiculously true you just gotta smile 😊 Pema Chodron is my go to when I am needing some insight and grounding. You do have to sit with some of the concepts at times for them to seep in. The reality of this quote is that we are constantly grasping for solutions, control...certainty. However if there is one thing we know to be an absolute truth it is that life is always in a constant state of flux and we have very little control over most of it. What we do have control over is how we interface with it all, the joy and the struggle. If we aren't paying attention we can really let the struggle drag us down or we can totally miss the jouyful moment! However if we can recognize this, loosen our grip a little, we don't have to go down with the boat. In this book Pema Chodron (who is a Buddhist nun with a great sense of humor, by the way) suggests that we can "live well when the very ground we stand on is shaky". She shares 3 affirmations to find sanity in times of in-sanity. Enjoy!
